В дальневосточном регионе произрастает типовая разновидность Lathyrus japonicus Willd. (к ней же относится Lathyrus Lathyrus aleuticus (Greene) Pobed. = Lathyrus japonicus Willd. var. aleuticus (Greene) Fern.). L. maritimus Bigel. (= Lathyrus japonicus var. maritimus (L.) J.T.Kartesz & Gandhi) распространен в Европе и на атлантическом побережье Сев. Америки.
